Here’s to your mental health at Christmas and throughout the year!

November 30, 2010

For the past nine years, in lieu of sending Christmas cards, the Alberta Teachers’ Association has made an annual donation to a charitable organization. This year, as teachers across Alberta worked to raise awareness of mental health issues, it made perfect sense to support the Alberta division of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

On behalf of Alberta’s teachers, ATA President Carol Henderson presented a cheque for $1,000 to Tom Shand, executive director, Alberta division, Canadian Mental Health Association. Shand thanked the Association for all the work that teachers do to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. On October 22, the Association won the 2010 Mental Health in the Workplace Award for teachers’ outstanding commitment to the mental health of children and youth.
